Electronic copies of Sir Liam'sCMO UpdateNewsletters to Medical Professionals

Consists of 28 electronic PDF copies of newsletters sent to doctors and other management and medical professionals by Sir Liam, giving updates on relevant news from hundreds of officials reporting to the Chief Medical Officer. Also highlights issues raised by other policy teams in the Department of Health and associated agencies, as well as the wider medical community.

Electronic Copies of Urgent CMO Communications sent to Medical Professionals

Consists of 165 electronic PDF copies of alerts sent to doctors and other management and medical professionals within the NHS by Sir Liam during his time as Chief Medical Officer, bringing subjects to their attention which require immediate action.
From 2004, as well as the Chief Medical Officer conveying urgent communications, the National Patient Safety Agency issued urgent communications through the Safety Alert Broadcasts System (SABS). Included link to an electronic response form.

From September 2008, all CMO Urgent Communications and Safety Alert Broadcast System (SABS) alerts to the NHS were issued through the Central Alerting System (CAS). CAS replaced both the Safety Alert Broadcast System (SABS) and the Chief Medical Officer’s Public Health Link (PHL).

Evaluation Report on Media Coverage of Avian/Pandemic Flu from September to December 2005

Consists of copies of slides analysing all media coverage given to avian and pandemic flu in general and Sir Liam's media briefings on these issues from September to December 2005. Includes a commentary by way of executive summary, tables and graphs on the overall and issue specific coverage, a break-down of media formats by coverage, top sources, spokespeople and authors, potential demographics reached by social class, age and sex, and the positive and negative media interpretation given in the coverage.

Evaluation Report on Media Coverage of Cosmetic Surgery and Influenza Pandemic for January to March 2005

Consists of copies of slides analysing all media coverage given to the announcement by Sir Liam of new cosmetic surgery regulations and a possible flu pandemic from January to March 2005.

Includes a commentary by way of executive summary, tables and graphs on the overall and issue specific coverage, a break-down of media formats by coverage, top sources, spokespeople and authors, potential demographics reached by social class, age and sex, and the positive and negative media interpretation given in the coverage.
