Scope and content
Leonard Evetts' project file relating to the design of windows in the east wall of the south transept, and windows in the vestry, in St Mary's Church, Timaru, New Zealand, installed 1952. The vestry design had a centre light depicting St Francis with New Zealand birds, with the lights on either side containing roundels representing the four seasons in Britain and New Zealand.
The file contains detailed designs of the south transept windows, photographs of the three-light vestry window, the final design for the 'plants of New Zealand' windows, photographs of a close up of a section of glass featuring birds, and preparation drawings of New Zealand flowers.
The file also includes a later correspondence between Evetts' wife and a friend who visited the church in 1998.
