Consists of various printouts of the poems used within the publication, some are annotated and there is a note regarding typesetting.

Consists of a partial proof, poet biographies and editorial correspondence. The biographies are annotated in red ink by Neil Astley adding setting information. The correspondence is between Neil Astley and Deryn-Ree Jones regarding the poet biographies.

Consists of printouts of the contributing poets work with annotations and crossing out regarding which poems to use. There are partial page proofs, including the introduction which is annotated, this is also in printout. There are also page and line calculations.

Consists of photocopies of poems published in The Guardian, some are loose and some are sectioned in to "in" and "out" categories using folded paper. There is a page from the newspaper from August 1990 which includes a poem. There is also a letter from the BBC South West [British Broadcasting Corporation], referring to the sectioned poems.

Consists of a style sheet and setting copy annotated typescripts, some of the typescripts consist of cut out poems stuck in place with adhesive. These are also sectioned using paperclips. There are partial proofs with annotations concerning print error and added notes, there are also some contributor proofs with editing. A clean copy proof is also placed with these items.

Consists of printouts with images and caption guides, there is also a letter from Kathleen Jamie to Neil Astley regarding the publication that has been left in the middle of these papers.

Consists of typescript, photocopied typescript and printed material, a letter from David McDuff to Neil Astley, regarding the submitted essays. The typescript poems are edited with notes and white correction fluid.

These papers consist of several letters from Richard Mckane between January 1989 and April 1989, making corrections and changes to the translations. There are printouts that accompany these, some are annotated and 'Poem without a hero' is printed out in full. There is one letter from Neil Astley to Richard McKane regarding these changes and asking for clarification, he also discusses the issues of using disks for typesetting (these are not available). The proofs with notes have not come with the accompanying letter and this has been left this way. Within this there are two sheets "Interview with Martin Carter" and Louise Bennett's poem 'Proverbs' which have been put in the file, these are proof copies cut to publication size and are from the anthology 'Hinterland: Caribbean Poetry from the West Indies and Britain' compiled by E.A. Markham.
