Consists of a letter from George Brown, Thomas Baker Brown's brother, to his father from France. He describes working until 'half past three in the morning' only to have to get up at 7 the following day for 'more work'. He also requests a new pair of braces, and comments on the 'volunteers' at home in Tynemouth.

He writes to thank them for letters he has received, to congratulate Mr Brown's daughter Hazel on her typewriting and to inform them that one of the Sergeant's in his division has won the Military Medal.
