Sir Lawrence discusses various news about family members back home.

He remarks on being made Air Aide-de-Camp to the King. He relates his travels and experiences at Cairo, Baghdad, Rutbah, Hinaidi, Iraq, Basra, Amman, Transjordan, Jerusalem, Palenstine, Bethlehem, Ramleh, Abusir, Heliopolis, Aboukir and Helouan.

Sir Lawrence comments on the social activities at Cairo including seeing a Royal Air Force pantomime. He closes by describing his travels to Port Said and the ship he has boarded.

Letter from Sir Lawrence to his son, John Pattinson and a career history of Sir Lawrence

Sir Lawrence wishes his son a happy birthday and discusses the farming business and shares which John hopes to get involved with. Sir Lawrence declares he has been asked for a photograph and career history so they can create a reminder at Wesley College of the school's only Air Marshal.He also describes various combats he had during the war.

Sir Lawrence discusses his flight in a Bristol Fighter Aircraft, and his stay at Peshawar aerodrome with Wing Commander Walser. He remarks on his travels and experiences at Kohat, Risalpur, Arawali, Miramshah, Fort Sandeman near Rasmah and Quetta.

Sir Lawrence comments on the RAF's plans to make a map of uncovered areas in Waziristan. He also details a flight along the Zhob during which his companion plane had to make an emergency landing.

Sir Lawrence ends the letter by expressing his hope that Mabel 'has solved the nurse problem', and informs her he will receive his mail when he arrives at Ambala.
