Letters and papers regarding Bertrand Russell

Relates to Russell's conviction under the Defence of the Realm Act during World War I.
Includes extracts from a speech by Russell given at Cardiff on 6th July 1916, newspaper cuttings, copies of correspndence between Russell and representatives of the War Office, a leaflet of a syllabus of lectures by Russell, a leaflet entitled Bertrand Russell & the War Office: A Personal Statement published by the Council for Civil Liberties, correspondence between Charles and Herbert Samuel and a pamphlet entitled The Administration of the Military Service Act, 1916 .
An accompanying envelope is annotated in Mary's hand.

Letters and papers relating to the London and North Western Railway Company

Relates to an article in The Economist which stated that the London and North Western Railway Company contributed funds to an organisation affiliated with the Conservative Party (the London Municipal Society), while contesting the London County Council elections.
Includes correspondence regarding George Otto Trevelyan's interest in the company, responses from a range of other transport companies regarding donations to political parties. Also includes cuttings and circulars regarding the resulting London and North Western Bill and notes for a speech by Charles.

Letters concerning Katharine and Georg Gotsch's divorce

Includes letters from Charles Philips Trevelyan to his solicitor, Charles Percy & Son, Alnwick, letters to Secretary of State from solicitor asking for advice on the re-naturalisation of Katharine and her children, advice from solicitors on German divorce law and copies of letters between Charles and Katharine. Also includes draft letters from Charles to Georg and Katharine.
Also includes a letter from Katharine to Charles.

Letters from Charles' journey with Beatrice and Sidney Webb through the United States of America, Hawaii, New Zealand and Australia.
These letters were published in their entirety in 1969 (see publication note).
The originals include three items of memorabilia (a map, newspaper cutting and train timetable), and some post-scripts which were omitted from the published version.
