Lesotho research material

Material relating to Vincenza Holland's time living in Lesotho. Includes personal correspondence, files of newspaper cutting organised by political theme, publications from the South of Africa and personal ephemera such as invitations and postcards. Also includes material relating to the University of Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland including school calendars, campus newsletters and school leaflets.
At the time Holland lived there, Lesotho was a newly independent country completely surrounded by South Africa, which was an apartheid state. The University of Botswana, Lesotho, and Swaziland served black students from Botswana and Eswatini (formerly named Swaziland), who were obliged to travel through South Africa to reach the campus. The material in this part of the archive strongly relates to the evolution of the university after Lesotho's Independence, internal struggles, and campus life.
