"This correspondence concerns Pybus' potential decision to sell his collection of Rare Books, manuscripts and portraits. He has actively contacted American institutions regarding this, he was keen to have the collection purchased as a whole stating this regularly, he has explained that his own duplicates have been sold at Sotheby's and that his general plan is to bequeath the collection to King's College, Durham University. During his correspondence he has written to, or has been written to by: • The Johns Hopkins University - Institute for History of Medicine • Ida. W. Schuman Books relating to the History of Medicine & Science, New York • University of Kansas Medical Centre • University of Alabama Medical Centre Library • The University of Florida, University Libraries • William Dawson & Sons Ltd (Wholesale exporters of books periodicals and stationary, dealers in rare books and scientific journals, Pall Mall) • Robert D. An estimated price from William Dawson & Sons Ltd was £25000 - £30000. Regularly American Universities are concerned with the amount of duplication that may happen with their current holdings. Pybus also has one letter from Norman [Martin?] in 1948 regarding Pybus' book and portrait collection, Martin seems concerned that Pybus may move home and sell the collection, he urges him to keep it or give it in whole to an institution such as the Royal College of Surgeons.
