School Precedent File 1995

In August 1995 a 'Jeavons School Precedent Tour' took place, with a number of recently built schools, local to the Cambourne site, visited as part of the research process. The file contains plans of these schools together with photographs taken during the tour.

Includes some exercises by Charles [presumably] from school, exercises in Greek, a water colour sketch of the portico at 14 Great College Street, two essays by Marjorie Gordon reprinted from Sesame and a handwritten essay by Charles entitled Under the Open Sky .

Two notebooks used by Charles Philips Trevelyan as diaries for his time during school. Concerning school activities, his academic performances, comments on teaching, extra-curricular activities including sport and debating, and a tour abroad in April 1889, including interest in the Franco-Prussian War.
Also includes comments on peers at school and teachers, and family members, including George Otto Trevelyan and Robert Calverley Trevelyan.
Also includes two letters from H D Watson, primarily concerning cricket.

School books, letters, family games and similar from Lady Plowden's childhood and early adulthood before her marriage, and photographs of Gertrude Bell and her grave

Although the contents are mainly from the 1920s - 1930s, box 1 also includes a picture lotto game which has been passed down through the family and is dated 1876.

Includes envelope "Gertrude's Grave - Enlargements by Weston and Photographs of her" containing multiple photographs of Bell's grave in Baghdad, two photographs of Gertrude Bell c.1922, and one mounted portrait photograph of Lieutenant Colonel Charles Doughty-Wylie.

These boxes have not been catalogued in any detail and remain as they were deposited, (many letters still within their envelopes). They are not held in any distinct chronological or thematic order.
