Part of Evetts (Leonard) Archive
Leonard Evetts' project file relating to Dove Cottage, Grasmere, 1961-1994. Evetts designed a memorial plaque for the library, installed in 1963, and also a second larger plaque outside the Museum which was commissioned in 1994. In addition Evetts was asked to advise the Trustees of Dove Cottage on the lighting scheme within the cottage following a decision in 1961 to install electric lighting - Evetts' involvement with the Newcastle Diocesan Advisory Committee meant that he had a great deal of experience of installing aesthetic lighting in older buildings and had knowledge of electrical firms that could carry out this work.
The main file contains plans, work schedules, and commission correspondence. There is also one large plan of the lighting scheme, housed separately due to its size.
