The Framework for Responsible Officers and their Duties Relating to the Medical Profession: A Consultation on Responsible Officer Regulations and Guidance

This consultation document, following on from an earlier consultation Responsible Officers and their Duties Relating to the Medical Profession, the response to which was published in May 2009, aimed to set out proposed draft regulations and guidance relating to the roles and responsibilities of responsible officers. The draft regulations set out the legal framework for introducing responsible officers through the Health and Social Care Act 2008. The guidance expanded on the regulations and describes the role that responsible officers would play in supporting organisations and doctors to improve quality of care and support medical revalidation. This public consultation ran from 25 August 2009 to 25 October 2009.
