Blackwall Tunnel Ventilation Listed Building Correspondence and Press Cuttings File, 1962-2000

A file containing publicity photographs and sketches of the Blackwall Tunnel Ventilation Towers designed by Sir Terry Farrell in 1962. There are press cuttings and correspondence about the listing of the construction, along with three brochures by the Flint and Neal Partnership. Also included is the 1962 statement about the towers as part of a competition entry, complete with early working drawings.

Blackwall Tunnel Ventilation Tower

The model is divided in two sections of which section one is on the ground level as two tower ventilation buildings. The other one is of the underground tunnel. A cavity on the tunnel provides the glimpse of the transport road passing through the tunnel. The wooden platform based model is encased in an acrylic case, fixed with screws into the platform.
