Also includes a hand-written personal account by Sir George on his time in the position of Deputy Chief Medical Officer (under Sir John Charles from 1950 - 1960) and CMO, and political tensions between the tobacco industry and the Ministry of Health following the Royal College of Physicians Committee 1962 report Smoking and Health; the first major move against smoking, which Sir George was instrumental in setting up.
