The file contains drafts and commission correspondence.

Worcester Cathedral (Cathedral Church of Christ and the Blessed Mary the Virgin, of Worcester).

Leonard Evetts' project file relating to the design of three embroidered panels in Worcester Cathedral, the last of which was installed in 1975.

The file contains sketches and commission correspondence.

Note there is also a 'Guild of Embroiders' booklet relating to this commission in the research files for the book 'Master Designer' - see LE/05/05.

Watercolours and Sketches

When Leonard Evetts died in 1997, he left over 100 paintings in his back room studio. Many of these were sold, but a small number were retained by the Hatton Gallery at Newcastle University and kept within the archive.

Wallpaper, details unknown.

Five rolls of wallpaper. These rolls were found within Leonard Evetts' design files, and although nothing further is known it seems most likely that they were kept because Evetts had a role in the design or that they were related to his teaching.

Unassigned projects

Six files of designs and sketches which were not originally filed within a particular project file, and which we have been unable to identify. It is likely that many of these were not realised and were therefore not assigned a project file.

Sunderland Royal Infirmary Chapel.

An order of service for the dedication of the chapel at Sunderland Royal Infirmary, 2 June 1959. Leonard Evetts was commissioned for elements of the restoration of the chapel, completed 1959.
