This report, commissioned by the Secretary of State for Health, was in response to claims made by The Sunday Telegraph that women beyond the legal limit for abortion in England were being referred abroad by the British Pregnancy Advisory Service (BPAS). It investigated the handling of late abortion cases by this registered charity and service provider.
Found that BPAS's ability to provide abortion and reproductive counselling and services had not been compromised and made a number of best practice recommendations for dealing with late gestation abortion cases, developing protocols for late term abortion counselling and improving early access to services.
