The notebook details patients name, ward, regiment, number, date of surgery, type of surgery, surgeon (Pybus), anaesthetic used, anaesthetist, result and remarks. 1364 operations are noted and the book also includes an index of patient's names at back. Inserted with this is a reprint from the British Medical Journal with an report written by Pybus on fracture-disclosure of the cervical spine and its open reduction, this is linked to a specific patient in the notebook - Pybus has written which cases he appears (410, 426 and 429) and also highlighted this using a red pencil in the notebook. Held in the back of the notebook is a medical case sheet from 1917 which includes a patient report, clinical chart and post mortem report.
