Matthew Caley’s Thirst (Slow Dancer, 1999) was shortlisted for the Forward Prize for Best First Collection. Since then he has been Poet-in-Residence at the Poetry Society café and commended (3rd and 2nd) in separate National Poetry Competitions. His second full-length collection, The Scene of My Former Triumph (Wrecking Ball Press, 2005), was followed by a third, Apparently (2010), from Bloodaxe Books. He has also co-edited Pop Fiction: The Song in Cinema with Stephen Lannin (Intellect, 2005). In a previous life – in Newcastle – he designed record sleeves including Prefab Sprout’s debut, Swoon. He now lives, works and writes in London.
